At Heart NI, we see cardiology patients with a wide range of potential heart symptoms or conditions including chest pain or coronary artery disease, palpitations, pulse irregularity, atrial fibrillation, cardiac-related breathlessness, heart failure, hypertension (high blood pressure), high cholesterol. We also undertake cardiovascular risk assessment or cardiac screening.

Cardiac investigations and procedures can be arranged as needed including 12 lead ECG (heart trace) exercise treadmill testing, echocardiography, cardiac CT, cardiac MRI, cardiac rhythm monitoring/analysis, cardiac catheterisation/coronary angiography (dye test), and coronary balloon angioplasty/stents. About Dr Menown

Dr Menown MB BCh BAO MD MRCP(UK) FRCP(Edin) FESC, is Consultant Cardiologist & Director of Interventional Cardiology at Craigavon Cardiac Centre, Northern Ireland, current President of the Irish Atherosclerosis Society and Honorary Senior Lecturer at Queen's University, Belfast. 

His special interests include general & acute cardiology, chest pain, coronary artery disease, interventional cardiology (angioplasty/stenting), atrial fibrillation, hypertension (high blood pressure), heart failure, cholesterol management and coronary prevention/screening, and coronary risk reduction.

Dr Menown received his medical degree from Queen's University, Belfast with 5 distinctions, first place at 3rd MB and awards of the Whitla Medal, Musgrave Prize, ARC Prize, Duke Elder Memorial Prize and Sir John Henry Biggart Medal. He then trained in Cardiology in Belfast before completing an interventional fellowship at Vancouver Hospital & Health Sciences Centre, Canada. He obtained a postgraduate doctorate of medicine, the Purce Medal, and JD Williams Prize for research improving early detection of acute coronary syndromes. He  has been elected to Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians, Edinburgh and Fellowship of the European Society of Cardiology.

Dr Menown serves on European Society of Cardiology expert groups of Thrombosis, Acute Cardiac Care, Cardiovascular Pharmacotherapy, Hypertension and Atherosclerosis & Vascular Biology. He is interventional editor-in-chief of Cardiology and Therapy, cardiology editor of Advances in Therapy and on the editorial boards of Interventional Cardiology, Future Cardiology and Biomarkers in Medicine. Dr Menown is frequently invited to lecture at national and international meetings and has published over 110 papers and 150 scientific abstracts in fields including acute coronary syndromes, lipids/cholesterol, cardiovascular risk and percutaneous coronary intervention.

Dr Menown is a BUPA fee-assured Platinum partner, a Vitality Premier consultant, and is registered with all UK/Ireland major health insurers including AVIVA, AXA-PPP, Benenden, Cigna Healthcare, CS Healthcare, H3, Laya, Simply Health, Standard Life, VHI, Westfield and WPA. Dr Menown invoices within recommended guidelines for each of the above companies. 

Before attending for consultations and procedures, health insurance companies typically expect you to contact them to obtain pre-authorisation

If you are insured with Vitality, please submit your 8 digit plan number rather than your membership number.

If you have an insurance excess, this can be paid at the time of appointment or submitted within 14 days. 

Self-funding 

Consultations and investigations can be arranged on a self-funded basis. Please ensure that the estimate of fee from the clinic reception is acceptable before proceeding with a self-funded consultation or investigation. Accounts are settled on the day of the clinic.
